This exhibit includes sexual health promotion materials aimed at gay men in the early years of the AIDS epidemic in the United States.
Making safer sex sexy has long been a concern of sexual health promotion. This exhibit chronicles attempts at eroticizing safer sex in the early years of the AIDS crisis as well as contemporary efforts to make safer sex hot.
This exhibit works against tired and long standing tropes of the invisibility and impossibility of lesbian and queer women's sex to demonstrate the ways in which cis and trans women engage in safer sex.
Materials in this exhibit illustrate contemporary approaches to trans and gender-nonconforming people's sexuality, including embodiment, anatomy, healthcare, and safer sex practices.
